Prayer for Strength

Posted on August 22, 2022 by Jaja

God, we ask that You shower upon us the richness and blessings of Your Mercy; may we be blessed with a life filled with peace, happiness, and prosperity.

We give thanks to God for the blessings of our daily meals, for every morsel that is until day’s end. We give thanks for the joy of a good, healthy meal and the love of family and friends gathered around the table. We give thanks for every gift that is freely given to us from God; we acknowledge that God’s gifts are innumerable in number, whether they be blessings large or small. We are thankful when they are tangible gifts and intangible gifts alike which still bring us much joy. We give thanks for this day, which just like every other, is filled with blessings. We give thanks for the routine tasks that each day brings us. All of these blessings also come from God through the goodness of others. And so, we give thanks to God for being surrounded by such good people every day.

God, we give thanks for Your Mercy that is seen in the simplicity of a day and the simple task of daily living, as we awaken to another day filled with potential and new beginnings. God, we give thanks for Your Mercy which is seen in the breathtaking beauty and splendor of a sunrise or even the soft grass beneath us; at this moment, we are able to gaze upon God’s magnificent creation in awe and wonder. God, we give thanks for Your Mercy because it is seen in the luxuriant greens of a forest, in the waves of the great sea; it is seen in the night sky filled with stars and galaxies. God, we give thanks for Your Mercy because it is seen in the wonderful people who surround us every day and who offer us friendship, love, support, and encouragement that make us beam with fulfillment. God, we give thanks for Your Mercy in the countless acts of charity and in people who go out of their way to be helpful that are performed every day.

God, we give thanks for being with us as we travel through life on our unique journeys through life. God, we give thanks for Your Mercy that is seen in the strength with which we all walk through this life; it is a gift to be able to do so. Our strength comes from knowing how much God loves each one of us and that He grants us the ability to navigate through life because He wishes it. God, we give thanks for Your Mercy that is seen in our life’s journey so far and the lessons that we have learned, and the wisdom we have gained along the way.

God, it is through Your Mercy that we can listen to the sound of waves crashing against the shore. It is through Your Mercy that even the sound of a single stream of running water is so calming and soothing to us in our daily lives. Your Mercy can be seen in the crystalline blue water of our oceans or in the swirling whirlpools of wind that catch our eyes. It can also be seen in the grandeur of a mountain range or a skyline. It is also present in the freshness of morning dew and the rays of sun that gently touch down on our faces in springtime. Your Mercy is evident in the sound of little animals chirping as they nest beside our homes. Your Mercy is the reason that birds fly. Your Mercy watches over us, never leaving us to wander aimlessly in this world. It can be seen in the floral scent released by roses as they bloom near our homes. It is also present in the taste of fruit and grain. It is through Your Mercy that we can let our souls sing. It is through Your Mercy that we can find treasure troves of gold buried far beneath the ground and within ourselves. Your Mercy is the reason our hearts burst at the seams in awe of You, and Your Mercy is the reason blood flow through our veins.

I myself am so dependent on Your Mercy every day. In this life, I have seen so much of Your Mercy as it is displayed through creatures of the animal realm and also in humans. So in light and grateful manner, I ask that You may make me more aware of Your Mercy so that I may be able to spread it to the world around me. Guide me, my Lord; make me an instrument of Your Mercy.

God, Your Mercy is evident in the taste of bread and fruit. Your Mercy fills us to the brim with awe when we watch lightning flash in deep summertime skies, or when we see a storm sweep across a cove. Your Mercy is evident in the sound of falling leaves when they are stirred by the wind or in the rustle of leaves as they move across a meadow. It is also present in a chirping bird or a flock of birds fluttering through our skies. Your Mercy is even present in the sound of a bird’s wings beating against the wind as it swoops down to fly over a person’s head and the way it takes flight from another perch. Your Mercy is evident in the sound of little streams of water tumbling through rocky mountain passes. Your Mercy is seen in a mist rising up from a road as it is watered down by the sun. Your Mercy can be seen when we are awakened to new mornings each day. Your Mercy can be seen in the way blossoming flowers release their scent into the air, along with their pure sweet smell to them. Through Your Mercy, we get to see the way that the sea’s waves dance and twirl in broad daylight. Through Your Mercy, we get to see the way that a beam of sunlight dances through the mist from a waterfall. It is also present in the way raindrops gently touch down on a mountainside. Your Mercy is revealed when fishes jump out of the water after insects as they flutter by. Your Mercy can be seen when a flower opens up its petals in the warm sun and the way water sparkles in the sunlight. Your Mercy can be seen in the way spring fills up with new and fresh growth.

God, it is through Your Mercy that we can live in a state of awe at the beauty of our world. It is through Your Mercy that we are not blinded by our own egos, but instead see Your greatness displayed all around us. We give thanks for the ever-flowing streams of Your Mercy that gushes forth in every nook and cranny of our lives that are so beautiful and so rich with color and sound. God, we give thanks for the many blessings we enjoy today. We continue to pray every day that it may be a day filled with peace, joy, and abundance of all things good.
